  • Sharpie
  • Cardboard

Remove the Current Seat

To start the process, the first step is very obvious that you need to take off the current seat. You need to do this carefully so that you don’t damage the structure of the bike.

Determine the Spot for New Seat

Since you are going to make a custom seat for your bike, so you have a good chance to determine the best spot for your new DIY custom seat. Determine this spot as per your comfort level.

Create and Cut Outline Of Frame

Use the cardboard and put it on the frame and outline it underneath. With the cardboard use the sharpie as well and create a template. Cut extra part and check if this is accurate or not. Most probably it will have some wrong measurements, so try this as many times as requires to get the perfect template. Then use the plywood and create your outline using the perfect measurements of cardboard, cut the plywood by using a blade and jigsaw.

Add seat Padding

You can use any material for paddings like carpet or anything else. But make sure to double the layer for extra comfort. For extra comfort of your thighs, leave an extra overhang from the sides to avoid the edges of the plywood.

Upholster the Seat

Now, it’s time to upholster the bike seat as you want to be creative and you need a stylish custom motorcycle seat. First, use duct tape to fix the padding with the plywood frame, and then you can use the leather material to design a perfect custom seat.

Mount the Seat

That is it… You are all done and now you just need to mount the seat. Just like you removed your old seat, now you have to reverse that step and need to mount your DIY custom seat on the bike.
